The Chocolate Block
If you like your red wine to pack a punch, then look no further than “The Chocolate Block” from renowned South African winemakers Boekenhoutskloof. This blended red has developed a cult following thanks to its unique flavour profile and the Western Cape’s Mediterranean climate is ideal for creating punchy flavours and expert blends!
The Chocolate Block is a blend of five stand-out varietals from the winery’s vast holdings. The most dominant grape is Syrah which accounts for 70% of the wine, with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon (13%), Grenache Noir (10%), Cinsault (6%) and Viognier (1%).The wine is matured in French oak barrels to add an extra layer of flavour and complexity.
This wine is strongly perfumed with a distinctly floral nose that hints at Turkish Delight tempered with a distinctive spice reminiscent of black pepper and coriander. Combine this with the redcurrant fruitiness on the palate and a smooth yet rich velvety mouth feel and you’re on to a winner.
