Penicillin: By Sam Ross @ Milk & Honey NYC

We’ve been working on the new Monteiths cocktail list over the past few weeks. It’s a real challenge creating an entirely new cocktail list and getting the right blend of innovative new flavours and classic drinks. It’s always sad to bid farewell to our cocktail list and every year there’s one drink that will be missed more than most.
This year, that honour amongst the staff & regulars undoubtedly falls to “The Penicillin” created by Sam Ross at Milk & Honey NYC.  It’s an easy to make, longer drink, that perfectly marries sweetness with the peaty earthiness of Laphroig malt whisky.

Ingredients
2 spoonfulls  Blossom honey
1 shot Laphroig 10yo malt whisky
1 shot Chivas 12 whisky
1 pinch    fresh grated ginger
¾ shot    freshly squeezed lemon juice

Method
-    Stir Honey & whisky together until honey is dissolved
-    Leave honey spoon in mixer & add all other ingredients
-    Shake with ice & strain into an ice filled glass
-    Garnish with a ginger wedge
